Bohemians impress against Dundee United - July 12, 2000

Bohemians pre-season preparations were given a shot in the arm last night as they overcame Scottish Premier Division outfit Dundee United with two unanswered goals. Things could get even better for Roddy Collins' side as Trevor Molloy is about to sign for the Dalymount club.

Bohs took a deserved lead in the 34th minute when David Morrison broke down the left flank and then cut inside onto his right foot before crossing into the danger area.

The ball travelled towards Glen Crowe but the former Wolves striker stepped over it, catching the Dundee defence on the wrong foot, and the ball went unmolested into the back of the net.

Roddy Collins changed ten of his players at the break but even this disruption did nothing to stop their domination. Gary O'Neill made the win safe with a blistering shot from outside the box in the closing stages.

Liam O'Brien started the game for Bohs even though he is still a Cork City player - but that is not likely to stay the same much longer as the former Irish international wants a move back to Dublin.

Trevor Molloy is set for a medical at Dalymount today and if he passes it he will become the most expensive player in National League history. Bohs have agreed to pay Shelbourne £30,000 plus Jamie Harris for the former u21 international.

"I'm glad it's all over," said Molloy. "It was tempting to go up North but even though I wanted a change, I didn't want to travel."

Molloy was offered a contract with Irish League side Portadown worth an estimated Stg£30,000 a year, but he has decided to decline their offer in favour of Bohs.
