McNevin goes to Town - January 19, 2001
Former St. Patrick's Athletic manager Liam Buckley has returned to Inchicore in a bid to strengthen his Athlone Town squad and keep their promotion challenge on track.
Buckley swooped to snap up young midfielder Alan McNevin, who has been surplus to requirements at Richmond Park this season.
McNevin, who has played just five games with the Saints this season, three of them as substitute, changed hands for an undisclosed fee.
Buckley has seen his side's apparently unassailable lead cut to just four points -and second-placed Dundalk have a game in hand on the leaders.
Athlone have also taken the vastly experienced defender Gino Brazil on loan from Shamrock Rovers until the end of the season.
